April Update
Hello!
It’s been longer than I’d hoped! So, instead of this being an Easter newsletter, it’s a ‘how on earth did we nearly get to the end of April already?’ newsletter!
They say that this is the year of the Fire Horse, and that there is going to be really rapid change to contend with, as we travel through the year… but, I didn’t realise that this might mean the passage of time would feel like we are on turbo drive… racing through weeks as though they are made up of a couple of days!
Zoooooooom!
As it’s been a while, this update will be a tad longer than normal, and will cover a few more items than the average post…
Post Contents:
This post has to begin with praise for the weather! Hasn’t it been lovely!?!
However… It’s that time again… the one where we need to consider the impact of the sun on our skin - and the importance of that impact on our health.
We need the sun, no matter what you have heard, and I link to several articles that explain why.
Sunlight is so important that we need it at a cellular level!
It is probably more important than the food that we eat, and probably even more important than sleep. Although sleep is profoundly important too, so I cover this subject also. (Plus, read to the end of this post to find a link to a very important article on why we need sunlight at a cellular level.)
I don’t often mention that we need sufficient vitamin K 2-7 in order to reap one of the key benefits of the sun… We need vitamin K 2-7 for vitamin D synthesis. And, of course, we need vitamin D to achieve deep and restorative sleep, so I also mention this in relation to insufficient sun exposure and sleep issues.
Facial Oil No. 2 customer feedback has also prompted me to share some important information about the difference between natural oils and moisturisers.
Digestive health gets some pretty thorough attention too.
Important third-party information: I’ve also added several third-party articles, at the end of this post, that provide incredibly valuable insights on sun, halitosis (bad breath) and digestive health.
I hope you get a lot of benefit from all of it.
Tanning Weather
Please forgive me for banging on about carcinogenic conventional and ‘green’ sun creams - but the mailing list has been joined by a lot of new subscribers since I last mentioned it (Welcome! ❤️😍🥰😍❤️)…
… and, of course, it’s that time again… So probably everyone could use a reminder!
I am already seeing burnt faces during these cool sunny days!
So, please remember, all conventional sun creams are toxic. Even green alternatives are carcinogenic!
Thankfully, nature and our own version of nature (human nature) has the answers:

Carrier Oils For UV Protection
A good number of carrier oils like Raspberry Seed Oil, Broccoli Seed Oil, Buriti Oil (on sale at the moment), and Marula Oil etc…
All the oils mentioned in Carrier Oils For UV Protection are covered in more detail here: Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils. This ultimate guide allows you to quickly compare oils and find alternatives to specific oils.
I hope you takE the time to read the Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils because it contains some invaluable information - not least, the process through which Wild As The Wind carrier oils are made.
Carrier oils are NOT made equal! Many claim to be cold pressed, even though they are expressed from nuts and seeds that are fed through piping hot stainless steel rollers. The friction of running all day inevitably heats up these rollers within a matter of minutes.
Expressing oils in this way destroys the nutrients, and often renders the oils quite toxic.
By contrast, a lot of Wild As The Wind carrier oils are made in small batches. Many are centrifugally extracted oils, or otherwise cold extracted. This makes them a lot more expensive to produce, but the end product could not be more different than mass-produced oils.
I try to keep the cost of carrier oils incredibly competative, but there’s no competing with the mass produced toxic oils that come packaged in plastic bottles.
Wild As The Wind carrier oils are bottled in amber glass bottles, which protect the contents, and do not leach synthetic, hormone disrupting chemicals:
Avoiding synthetic, hormone-disrupting chemicals (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals or EDCs) requires reducing exposure to plastics, pesticides, non-stick coatings, and synthetic fragrances. EDCs, such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, can leach from products into food, water, and air, interfering with natural hormone systems.
Reducing exposure to Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) involves choosing glass or stainless steel over plastic, opting for organic produce to avoid pesticides, using cast iron/ceramic cookware instead of non-stick, and selecting fragrance-free personal care products. Key actions include avoiding microwaving plastics, filtering water, and reducing intake of canned or processed foods.
*The term ‘Fragrance’ is an industry term for synthetic aromatic products. Fragrance is the opposite of Wild As The Wind essential oils, all of which are naturally derived from plants.
Sadly, however, there are many companies selling fragrance oils and passing them off as essential oils. So, please be aware of this.
When the price of carrier oils and essential oils is ‘really good’, then please know that the prices are almost always ‘too good to be true’!
Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils
Each oil listed within the Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils provides at least two alternative oils. This is especially helpful if you have a nut allergy to a recommended oil and are looking for a nut-free alternative.
However, the chief benefit of this long article is that it allows you to easily compare all of the carrier oils in the extensive Wild As The Wind Carrier Oil Range.
Using the Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils to find the best oil for your personal needs is fast and simple using keyboard shortcuts.
There is a Find assistance guide in the main menu on the Wild As The Wind website, that helps you find everything of interest within the website. This includes how to find particular words, using keyboard shortcuts, within a specific page on the website, such as the Ultimate Guide To Carrier Oils resource.

Facial Oil No. 2
Recent Facial Oil No. 2 customer feedback has highlighted a common misconception about natural oils and moisturisers.
We have been so conditioned to believe that we need to use a moisturiser that we continue to do so, even when we start using a facial oil.
Faye left the following review on the Facial Oil No. 2 product page on the 21st April, 2026, which exemplifies this commitment to moisturisers:
Really lovely facial oil! Have used it for 3-4 years now and has made my sensitive skin a lot more calm and less reactive to irritation. I get spots a lot less frequently and they are much more short lived when I do. Feels very luxurious with my moisturiser at night and feels great to know that I’m supporting a local business with natural ingredients too.
I deeply appreciate the fantastic insights and sensibilities expressed in this 5-star review. But, the mention of moisturiser prompted me to respond at some length.
I am sharing my response here as this is such a common misapprehension, so I know the following insights are going to surprise quite a few people…
Dear Faye,
Thanks so much for leaving feedback. It’s deeply appreciated. I’m so glad that Facial Oil No. 2 is helping in a number of different ways. It’s a powerhouse, packing many different benefits… the way that it works is that your skin activates the benefits you individually need, hence the various improvements to your skin. x x xI’m also guessing that when the few spots you still get clear up, then there’s no scarring and discolouration afterwards…? And, I’m also guessing you love the smell?
I am also delighted that you mention you use a moisturiser alongside Facial Oil No. 2 because it allows me to address a common misconception… you actually don’t need to use a moisturiser because Facial Oil No. 2 is a moisturiser!
Moisturising creams only moisturise because of their oil content. But the oil content of moisturisers can be as little as 5% to 25% – the rest is generally tap water.
Cream moisturisers work by trapping the water content into the skin with the oils… but it’s crazy to pay all that money for something that can be 95% tap water, and will doubtless have toxic ingredients lurking around in there too. (These will age you faster and contribute to the toxic burden in your body, that cause endocrine disruption, weight gain and emotional health issues, etc, etc…)
The best thing to do instead is to use a Hydrosol Toner, (that has all the impurities distilled out of it, and also has the added benefit of pure essential oil content).
Simply apply this before applying your face oil, and you will trap the moisture in.
I like to use my Hydrosol Toner to do a deep cleanse of my face, and whilst my skin is still damp, I apply my face oil. The results are amazing.

So Many People Say That Sleep Is An Issue
There are two things that people complain about more than anything else when I meet them at markets and events: sleep and digestive health!
Thankfully, I am addressing both issues in this post.
This article covers the physical issues affecting sleep, including everything from vitamin D3 and vitamin K2-7 deficiency to mould in our homes and the prevalence of wireless technologies, etc. And, of course, as the title suggests, it covers vital mineral deficiencies.
Please note: I also cover why vitamin K 2-7 is the only known cure for hardening of the arteries, so if this is an issue for you, please read the vitamin D3 and vitamin K2-7 article. Or please share it if you know someone can benefit from it.
Sleep Issues & The Mineral Connection
Please note that almost all cases of vitamin D deficiency are due to a lack of sunlight.
We need sunlight to sleep properly, and we need it for proper immune function and bone health. However, we also need sufficient vitamin K2-7 to absorb the vitamin D from the sun and via supplement form.
But, please be aware: many people, who ensure that they have ample sunshne exposure, are still severley vitamin D deficient, because, very simply, they are vitamin K2-7 deficient.
Please follow the link below to find out why…
Vitamin D & Vitamin K
Sadly, many of us are vitamin K2-7 deficient as it is difficult to obtain enough vitamin K2-7 through our diet. Vitamin K2-7 is sourced from animal products that we are tending to eat less of, for one reason or another.
Insufficient vitamin K2-7 is inevitable if on a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Digestive Health & Skin Health
Without digestive health we are very unlikely to have skin health. And, if your digestive health issues are caused by emotional health issues, then the likelihood of developing skin problems is even higher.
But, regaining digestive health can be quite a process. This is because the underlying issue tends to be layered instead of having a single root cause. And it’s important to start at the beginning and work your way through the subsequent problems if you are going to succeed at restoring gut health.
For this reason, there are non-negotiable priorities that must be addressed before any digestive health intervention can be effective. Skip them, and your natural health protocol will likely fail; not because the protocol was wrong, but because your body (the terrain) was not ready for it.
You can’t go through every step of a recipe and expect it to turn out well if you don’t turn your cooker on. It’s the same with health. If there is an underlying issue that prevents your healing protocol from working, then the underlying issue needs fixing first.
The microbiome does not function in isolation. It modulates and is modulated by digestion, immune tone, motility, and neurochemistry. If those systems are compromised, even the most well-designed protocols are building on an unstable foundation.
One of the key underlying issues is something called histamine intolerance.
I suffer from it, and it’s pretty limiting dietarily. But, it has far-reaching implications that can cause a precipitous downward spiral, if left unchecked.
If you can’t tolerate any of the following, then histamine intolerance is likely the cause:
Cheese
Wine (especially red wine)
Vinegar
Fermented foods
Cured meats
Chocolate
Left-overs
All aged foods
If your symptoms include the following, then histamine intolerance is likely the cause:
Sinus issues
Digestive issues
Headaches & migraines
Fatigue
Nasal congestion
Digestive distress
Skin reactions
I have written a new article about it for you…
Allergy? Infection? Or Dysbiotic Gut? Feels Like All Of Them, But Is It Actually Histamine Intolerance…?
I hope you read this and pass it on… it’s a lot more pervasive a condition than we realise, especially in these stressful times.
Stress is a big precursor to histamine intolerance, and pretty much any other condition you can think of…
Sadly, however, little is known about the condition, and finding information about it is not so easy… so please do pass the article on to those who would likely benefit from it.

Important Article On Sunlight:
I would also add sunlight deficiency to the list of things that need fixing before directly addressing digestive issues.
Insufficient sunlight means that none of our bodily functions work properly!
This article is excellent for understanding the benefits of sunlight:
And that’s it for this week. You’ve got a good amount of important reading material for when the weather turns nasty… I hope you find it deeply beneficial.
With much love,
