This post features a heavily updated article about the sun protective benefits of carrier oils, and a newly published article about sun protective, antioxidant essential oils.
The latter includes a list of the essential oils that cannot be safely worn in the sun.
These articles also serve as a reminder that conventional sun creams are known to be carcinogenic.
Sadly, this includes the ‘green’ alternatives, containing zinc oxide and titanium oxide. Both of these ingredients are heavily oxidative when exposed to the heat of the sun. (Please follow the links provided to learn more.)
Carrier Oils For Sun Protection
Thankfully, the weather is finally showing signs of warming up. So, it was time for me to return to trawling the peer reviewed scientific literature for any new insights relating to the benefits of natural oils for sun protection that I could find.
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been doing a very deep dive into the medical literature, and have seriously updated the previously published Carrier Oils For Sun Protection article.
I am now convinced that it is the most well researched, comprehensive online resource on this subject. I very much hope you will read it and share it with others.
It provides more evidence that:
Conventional sun creams are carcinogenic
Natural carrier oils have valid SPF values
This is clearly deeply valuable information, but sadly, the vast majority of us know nothing about it. So, please help me spread the word by sharing it with those you care about. x x x

Essential Oils For Sun Protection
As sun burn is an oxidative process, there are many essential oils that can help protect us from the harmful rays of the sun. This is because, many essential oils are deeply antioxidant.
However, not all essential oils are safe for use in the sun. For this reason, Essential Oils For Sun Protection includes a list of phototoxic essential oils to be avoided during sun exposure.
A Tsunami Of Reviews
Wild As The Wind oils are used by quite a few therapists, including osteopaths, reflexologists and massage therapists etc. Badria, a Full Body Massage Therapist and Indian Head Massage Therapist, placed another large order for oils last month, and has agreed to provide reviews for them all.
WOW!!!
This is fantastic news, as there are still so many essential oils and carrier oils that are yet to receive a single review.
But, what is even more startling than the length of the list, is the fact that it is populated by some of the most popular oils in the Wild As The Wind range. Despite these oils being regularly purchased, they still haven’t earned a smidgeon of feedback.
And, it is especially important to increase the levels of reviews, these days, because of the way the internet works.
I have recently learned that search engines, like Google, do not index product pages properly if they haven’t been reviewed. This means that they are much more difficult to find online.
Poor online visibility means that I have to devote more time and energy on gaining new customers, which results in me having less time to devote to researching and writing free-to-access natural health information… and for developing new products.
New Products Planned For 2024
I have been desperately trying to find the time to develop a new facial oil for years. I want to offer a facial oil that is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women, that is also protective in the summer months.
Formulating a new product is a deeply involved, immersive affair. It is time-consuming in the extreme, not least because the approval process can be very lengthy. This involves working with Chartered Chemists, and submitting the finalised formulation to the appropriate authorities.
*Chartered Chemists do not help me formulate the products. They simply provide a stamp of approval after I have supplied them with a welter of documentation.
***The documentation required for Facial Oil No. 2 and Facial Oil No. 8 amounts to hundreds of pages.
It makes me cringe to think that I began work on a new facial oil back in 2020, and that it’s now 2024, and it’s still not finished. I try not to beat myself up about it, as we had already entered troubled waters at this time.
Since 2020, small businesses have had to face all manner of threats, with a lot not surviving the onslaught.
I have also had to move myself, and the business, long distances, twice in that time, owing to the impacts of the situation on the rental market. The direct disruption of these moves were felt for at least six months each time, and the indirect disruptions, like having to find new regional trading opportunities, and building the kind of relationships that are so necessary for small businesses, continue to present challenges to this day.
And, of course, it all takes time… Researching and developing on and offline relations equates to a continental-sized sinkhole of time and energy. Thankfully, these kinds of activities, whilst demanding, are often very inspiring and uplifting. So, whilst a tad onerous, the outcomes are usually very gratifying.
But, I digress…
The new products for 2024 include the following…
I am determined to release the aforementioned facial oil this year.
I am also intending to release a small set of oils that specifically target eye protection and eyelash health.
There are several essential oil blends, specifically targeting important conditions, that I have also been working on for a couple of years… I am determined to release these in 2024 also.
List Of Carrier Oils & Essential Oils That Have Zero Reviews
I have produced a list of essential oils, and carrier oils, at the end of this article, that very much need some feedback.
This is especially true at the moment. Badria has already provided five reviews and has committed to providing more in the next “few days and weeks”.
The block of reviews from Badria are now dominating the list of ‘Recent Reviews’ that is auto-generated and published on the home page of the Wild As The Wind Shop website.
The reviews are fantastic, but because they appear in a block, they are beginning to look a tad ‘inorganic’… Search engine algorithms are coded to detect ‘unnatural’ activities on websites, and whilst all of Badria’s reviews are genuine and heart-felt, if they are not interspersed with reviews from elsewhere, they could soon be flagged for negative algorithmic consequences.
Wild As The Wind products desperately need reviews in general, but the need has become even more urgent, to offset any potential negative consequences of a stream of reviews coming from a single source.
So, if you have been intending to write a review for ages, but have never gotten round to it, now is your chance to really make a big difference.
Please check the list of essential oils, and carrier oils at the end of this post, and click on the link for the product(s) you have been using from Wild As The Wind, and please leave a quick comment in the review section.
To do this, you simply need to click the ‘Reviews’ tab, beneath the image on the product page, then select the star rating, and leave your feedback in the comment box.
If someone has beaten you to it, please don’t be deterred. Instead, simply scroll down until the comment section appears, and then leave your review.
If you have been meaning to leave feedback for a product that doesn’t appear on the list, then again, please don’t be deterred from doing so. Your review will help to provide the diversity of reviews needed in the next week or two.
Please just use the search box at the top of every page on the Wild As The Wind Shop website, to search for the product you’d like to review, and follow the process outlined above.

Ease Essential Oil Blend
This works. I had whiplash the past 6 weeks and the underside of my head was all tingly and sore. I rubbed Ease gently on my skin in this area at night, and the next day onwards I no longer experienced the whiplash symptom. Highly recommend this product, it works. I hadn't really believed essential oils could be medicinal until I tried this product. It was recommended by a friend who buys from Wild as the Wind.... will be buying more products from this site.

Facial Oil No. 2
I’ve bought quite a few items from Wild as the Wind over the past couple of years. I have to say that Rachel’s customer service is impeccable and her level of knowledge about the products, second to none. Rachel obviously cares deeply about the oils she sells and about her customers too- she always sends a lovely handwritten note with every order! I recently purchased the no 2. Facial oil for my 16 year old daughter who has had a really bad flare up of eczema on her face and neck. After about a week of use, this oil has helped to soothe the eczema so much. It's especially upsetting when it appears facially. But, the beauty of Facial Oil No. 2 is that it not only soothes and calms outbreaks, it also helps to prevent scarring, so at least an episode is only ever very short-lived, and doesn't leave a constant reminder.
